Waiver, Release of Liability, and Volunteer Code of Conduct

Habitat for Humanity of the St. Vrain Valley requires all Longmont Gift of Home Tour volunteers to complete and acknowledge the Volunteer Code of Conduct, Risk, Waiver, and Release of Liability before or by noon the day before your first scheduled shift. Volunteer and Event Crew Waiver

Please fill out the following form in order to participate in our activity. Every volunteer must complete an individual form. Minor volunteers (ages 10 - younger than 18) MUST also have a parent/guardian read and consent to the following terms on your behalf.

Habitat will email you before the tour to update you about pertinent details. We may email you a thank-you note and a reminder next year to sign up to volunteer. You do not opt into any additional communications by including your email address here.

Acknowledgement of Volunteer Code of Conduct 

This code of conduct is established to ensure that everybody in attendance can have an enjoyable time. There will be NO EXCEPTIONS for violations of this Code of Conduct stated as follows:  

  • The Longmont Gift of Home Tour event occurs in people's personal homes. ALL attendees WILL BE EXPECTED to be respectful and courteous in their interactions with the tour homeowner(s), guests, Habitat staff, Longmont Gift of Home Tour partners, including, but not limited to, vendors, sponsors, and other volunteers. ALL attendees WILL BE EXPECTED to honor the privacy of the homeowner in whose home you are stationed.  

  • ALL Attendees WILL BE EXPECTED to conduct themselves in a manner that does not put themselves or others at risk of personal injury.  

  • ALL Attendees WILL BE EXPECTED to conduct themselves in a manner that does not put the homeowner tour property at risk for damage. 

  • Smoking is not allowed in the tour homes or on the tour home property or in the ReStore.  

  • Any person(s) who appear to be under the influence of drugs will not be permitted nor can they participate in any event.  

  • Any person(s) OBVIOUSLY INTOXICATED to the extent that they are a danger to themselves, or others will not be permitted to enter the event.  

  • Attendees are encouraged to have a good time. However, any disorderly conduct or conduct that is likely to provoke disorderly conduct from others will not be tolerated. Those acting in such a manner will be required to leave the event.  

  • Any person that causes willful damage to any facilities, equipment, or property will be required to leave the event and could face criminal charges.  

  • There will be a NO TOLERANCE policy regarding violence or threat of violence of any kind.  

  • NO WEAPONS allowed.  

  • The Longmont Gift of Home Tour and Habitat for Humanity of the St. Vrain Valley (hereafter referred to as St. Vrain Habitat) and their event partners assume no responsibility for damages or losses incurred by participants, guests, or attendees of event (unless freely offered by an authorized official Habitat representative).  

  • The Longmont Gift of Home Tour, St. Vrain Habitat and its partners are NOT responsible for any poor decisions made on your part, injury, death, intoxication, etc. Your personal property is your responsibility.  

  • Any directives given by Law Enforcement, Security Personnel, or Event Staff are expected to be followed immediately. Failure to do so will result in removal from the event.  

  • Attendees must obey all rules and laws that pertain to the event and facilities where events take place.  

  • All events take place rain, snow, or shine, unless otherwise notified.  

  • Photos and videos taken by professional photographers and videographers at events belong to professional photographers and videographers, and they own all rights to those images. By attending the event, you agree to a 'model release,' allowing photos to be distributed by Longmont Gift of Home Tour, St. Vrain Habitat, and its partners and professionals for their own professional use.  

  • Volunteer at your own risk. We are not responsible for any self-inflicted injuries.  

 By participating in any of our events, you and your entire party, are agreeing to forfeit all rights to sue The Longmont Gift of Home Tour, St. Vrain Habitat, My Big Day LLC, their agents, employees, partners, volunteers, successors, and assigns, and their respective heirs, personal representatives, affiliates, successors, and assigns. You agree with all the terms listed above and instructions and rules given at the event.  

Acknowledgement of Risk, Waiver, and Release of Liability

I, the above listed, desire to work as event crew or a volunteer for The Longmont Gift of Home Tour fundraiser for Habitat for Humanity of the St. Vrain Valley (hereafter referred to as St. Vrain Habitat) and engage in the activities related to the fundraiser. I hereby voluntarily execute the Volunteer Waiver under the following terms: 

 

I, the Volunteer/Event Crew, release and hold harmless all Longmont Gift of Home Tour and St. Vrain Habitat event partners and its successors and assigns from all liability, claims, and demands of whatever kind or nature, either in law or in equity, which arise or may hereafter arise from my work with the event partners. I acknowledge that I am allowed to participate in this activity with the understanding that I accept the risks involved.  

I understand that this Waiver discharges St. Vrain Habitat and The Longmont Gift of Home Tour event partners from any liability or claim that I, the Event Crew/Volunteer, may have against the event partners with respect to bodily injury, personal injury, illness, death, or property damage that may result from my participation on any of the four 2021 tour home sites and the Longmont ReStore (1351 Sherman Drive, Longmont, CO, 80501). I also fully understand that St. Vrain Habitat and The Longmont Gift of Home Tour does not assume any responsibility for and does not have an obligation to provide financial assistance or other assistance, including, but not limited to medical, health, or disability insurance, in the event of injury, illness, death, or property damage.  

I, the Event Crew/Volunteer, understand that I expressly waive any such claim for compensation or liability on the part of St. Vrain Habitat and The Longmont Gift of Home Tour beyond what may be offered freely by an official representative of the Organization in the event of such injury or medical expense.  

I hereby release St. Vrain Habitat and The Longmont Gift of Home Tour from any claim whatsoever which arises or may arise in the future on account of any first aid treatment or other medical services that are conducted in connection with an emergency during my time with this fundraising event.  

I understand that my time with The Longmont Gift of Home Tour may include various activities that may be hazardous to me and I hereby expressly and specifically assume the risk of injury or harm in these activities and release St. Vrain Habitat and The Longmont Gift of Home Tour and its partners from all liability for injury, illness, death, or property damage resulting from activities of my time with The Longmont Gift of Home Tour.  

I expressly agree that this Waiver is intended to be as broad and inclusive as permitted by the laws of the State of Colorado in the United States of America, and that this Waiver shall be governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws of the State of Colorado. I agree that if any clause or provision of this Waiver shall be held invalid by any court of competent jurisdiction, the invalidity of such clause or provision shall not otherwise affect the remaining provisions of this Release which shall continue to be enforceable.
